Our Mission

To improve the lives of freelance digital media workers by improving their working conditions. As the industry becomes increasingly unstable, we must build a community to protect each other, fight isolation and alienation, and experience the gains of collective bargaining.

We believe

When we combine our individual strengths, we become a force to be reckoned with

It is important to recognize that our organizing happens in the context of the broader labor movement

Building media worker power will combat the precarity and inequity in our industry

We organize in solidarity with

Other newsroom, website, and magazine unions

Advocacy organizations and communities of creatives in the media industry

A broad coalition of other freelance, contract, and gig economy workers

We are committed to

Building an inclusive and open union

Fostering an educational environment

Uniting freelancers and staffers in an industry that puts profit over workers

We will not tolerate

Abuse of power, harassment, or assault

Psychological or emotional battering

Anti-labor activities contrary to the purpose of the Project

A history of work that denigrates the exploited or oppressed

Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or ableism

We expect our members to

Contribute their thoughts, ideas, and experiences of working in digital media

Support other members as they navigate their own careers

Stand in solidarity with workers within digital media, across the industry as a whole, and throughout the labor movement

Ready to join us in building industry-wide solidarity?
